Project Summary
Apollo 11: First Steps is a HoloLens 2 AR experience that highlights the achievements of the Apollo 11 Moon landing. Developed in partnership with Microsoft and showcased at Siggraph 2019, the demo leveraged streaming technology to deliver the highest quality visuals of any AR experience to date. Two pods were installed at the Orpheum Theater and The Palm restaurant during the event for VIP attendees from companies such as Ford Motor Company, DaimlerChrysler, SpaceX, and Lockheed Martin to enjoy. Renderosity magazine called it “the very best interactive mixed reality experience I’ve ever had.” Since the Siggraph showing, Microsoft and other organizations have requested to showcase Apollo 11: First Steps at various additional events.

Microsoft //build 2019
The first time we showcased this HoloLens 2 tech demo was at Microsoft’s //build 2019 event in Seattle, Washington. Although the demo was not performed live on stage, we released a recording of an offline demonstration. This iteration of Apollo 11: First Steps was a multi-user, networked mixed reality tech demo.
