Project Summary

Chaos is both a UE4 destruction demo and an entirely new physics system built from the ground up to be an alternative to PhysiX. Set in the Robo Recall universe players take control of Big Bot and blast through buildings as they case after the rogue robot “Chaos”. The project first debuted on stage at GDC 2019 during Epic Game’s State of Unreal Keynote. Throughout 2019 Chaos has been demoed at various events including Siggraph 2019.

Order from Chaos

Check out how we went about building the Chaos Physics system in the tech talk below:

Whether making a high-end AAA game or a small-team indie title, physics simulation and destruction can play a huge part in bringing your games to life. In this Unreal Engine Learning Theater session by Epic's Alan Noon during GDC 2019, you will see new tools and techniques for creating high-end, sophisticated physics and destruction effects in Unreal Engine.

4.23 Release Highlight

Check all the cool new features we added to UE4 with Chaos’s release to the public in Unreal Engine 4.23.

With Unreal Insights (Beta), our new Chaos physics and destruction system, improvements to ray tracing and more, there's a lot to be excited about arriving in Unreal Engine 4.23. On this week's livestream, we'll sit down with engine experts Marcus Wassmer and Michael Lentine to talk about 4.23's features and changes.
